????Axpo signs deal to supply Danone with green energy from Polish wind farm
????Swiss utility Axpo said it had signed a deal to supply electricity to French food firm Danone from British Green Investment Group's onshore wind farm in Poland, as companies look to step up their switch to green energy.
????Global food and drink company Danone has committed to securing all of its purchased electricity from renewable sources by the end of 2030, up from 50% in 2020.
????Axpo said the 10-year so-called power purchase agreement (PPA) will mean Danone's Polish operations will have access to round-the-clock power, taking the bulk of output from the 25.3 megawatt (MW) Jozwin wind park from January.
????Public sector-owned Axpo is Switzerland's largest producer of renewable energy with trading operations that include international PPAs in Germany, the Nordics and eastern Europe.
????PPAs are closely watched by wholesale markets as important for the future delivery of carbon-free energy as the role of conventional power decreases and industry customers demand renewable supplies to demonstrate green credentials.
????Currently coal-reliant, Poland aims to derive 52% of its electricity from wind, sunshine and biomass by 2050.
